BBrrrr,Jingle Bells,Jingle All The Way BABY!!!.......... Merry Christmas All!!
How are you?? What's going on? Are you ready and all shopped out for the festivities? Alcohol and food all stocked in, or are you leaving it for the last minute pandemonium rush??
I can safely say how smug i feel this year - have been ready and prepared and simply cannot wait for Christmas. This year shall be our most special yet as our son is now 2 and a half and fully aware what Christmas is all about....yes, the presents and unfortunately not the true meaning! Am sure that will come about the following year....
Until then he is bright eyed and bushy tailed. Do you remember the last time you were that way inclined when it came to this seasonal time of year? And do you remember when you heard about the real truth about Father Christmas?! I do.....that's another story, one that would sadden you. But of course we've all been there!!!
On a more lighter note (if I can so use that terminology!) I was this week panicked. Something I very rarely get. I am so not usually stressed, but I was tested this week when I went out to gather (as we huntress fiends of shopping do) some last minute bits for the period of joy!
I managed to lose my car keys as I had opened the car boot up and was stacking the shopping in it!
Yes i know - how stupid! What seemed like an eternity in the freezing cold, I was lucky enough after 45mins of sheer terror to be given the most amazing help from the car parking attendant. And with his kind help, upon request I asked him to bring me a torch - if he could find one. He did and let me tell you it was the smallest torch he could find (i mock not - it was the most helpful piece of equipment I have ever to date been so thankful for!).
I eventually found the key wedged in between the seats! Do not ask me how it got down there or how far down! It wasnt even my son's fault. He just sat in the car freezing his little self off!
The point being, that sometimes we all overlook the people that are there to help us at this time of year. Be kind to these people as they too are doing a job (in the freezing cold!) Something has to be said for his kindness. So thank you to the lovely man in the green florescent jacket with the small penguin torch that saved my life, my cold hands and feet and of course my marriage!* (*my husband was duly abusing me down the phone at my sheer stupidity!!)
So the moral is - dont go out in the snow trying to be a hero to get last minute bits done! Stay at home and watch loose women or something with a nice hot cuppa!!!
How cold has it been this week? Odds on for a white Christmas....
Anyhow this was my last show of the year 2009 and what a year it has been for me! We all have our highs and our lows and personally I am pleased to say that the latter part of the year has been a very welcome thing indeed! It has been far more positive and much more incentivising than the former part.
Having said that, i did actually start on Phoenix FM at the beginning of the year and given a huge opportunity by the wonderful management team that run the place so smoothly and effortlessly. In being here I have become very good friends with a great number of the presenters for which I am hugely grateful and indebted for. It has been a fab experience and one that I hope continues for some time yet....
On that note I truly wish you and yours the very best of the festive and season's frivolities. Leave the diets until the new year of course. How can you not possibly indulge in good food, good drink (mulled wine of course) and just good company?....
May your stockings be filled with all the goodies you asked for on your list and your holiday rest be as relaxing as its been well-earned and waited for!
Merry Christmas to you all and wishes for a happy and healthy new year for 2010!!! Catch up with you then for the next instalment of Monica's 3-hour Breakfast show madness!
Regards as always:
