Curveballs at the Edge - EastEnd Promises, Zalinski, Learn To Swim, Anything In Mind![]() Phoenix FM returned to Edge nightclub in Romford on the evening of December 15th for the second gig of its monthly slot at the Tuesday Night Live event. First of the evening's four live bands were Anything In Mind. Originally formed four years ago, the band have won over many crowds with their passionate live shows and a distinctive sound that just keeps evolving. The band are playing more Christmas shows around Essex before heading out to London in the new year. Next up was some good old fashioned English pop in the form of Learn To Swim, whose summery sounds were the perfect antidote to the cold winter's night outside. The band can regullarly be seen playing acros Essex and London (including, of course, their monthly residency at Dingwalls in Camden on the first Tuesday of every month), and will be dropping into Curveballs in early 2010. Then it was the turn of Zalinski, a London/Essex/Wales quartet who didn't take long at all to win over the crowd with their edgy grooves. Many a toe was kept tapping with their eclectic set, which included tracks from their new EP Actions, Reactions & Misunderstandings. Definitely a name to be looking out for next year. Headlining tonight were London foursome EastEnd Promises. Formed just six months ago, the band have already established a following on the London gig scene, with a sound that veers between easy-going and roaring in equal measures. Ones to watch in the future without a doubt. Many thanks to all at Edge, all the bands and everyone who came to see the show. Phoenix FM will be returning to Edge in January, so watch this space! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Written by Nick Field
