A few words about the sponsors - Sherry Kramer and Jean Armitage

Sherry is now a patent lawyer who was a bit of a child actor, having appeared in shows such as the tour of The King & I with Yul Brenner and Gertrude Lawrence. Sherry has a love of the arts, a generous heart and the love of Stephen Moyer, hence she kindly stepped in and paid for all of the trophies last night - a huge cost and a great show of love, and all from a stranger who has never visited Brentwood Theatre. The 'Best Design of a Musical' therefore bore the names of her children.

Jean Armitage did visit Brentwood earlier this year having picked up on Steve Moyer through Phoenix 98 FM. She made so many friends, left behind many great memories and it was therefore a pleasure to present an award in her name to the best under-18.

We hope Sherry and Jean might join us next year - anyone know where we can get sponsorship for a pair of return tickets from America?

West End names!

Yes, we have West End connections.

The gorgeous Caroline Keiff started her career here, and indeed won the Under 18 award ten years ago. Since then she has spent three years in WICKED, working up to Nessa Rose, and is about to go into one of the most anticipated openings of 2009 - Legally Blonde, the musical. It was a pleasure to welcome back such a lovely lady and cannot wait to see her again.

Neal Wright has such a CV with Mama Mia, Smokey Joe's Cafe and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat to name just three. And, as we knew, he charmed everyone as he is such a great (little) guy.

Thank you both for sharing your precious time with us and making the night so special. And thanks to ALL the presenters, especially The Mayor for his very kind words.

Stephen Moyer, Patron

Steve could not join us as he is working on two films and had been at Sunday's Emmy's (shame he missed the better awards night then.....) but he sent this instead.

To Everyone at The Brentwood Theatre,
So sorry I cannot be with you tonight,
I will have to leave you in the capable, warm, soft hands of Mr Mark Reed..
Good Luck to everyone who is nominated..
I can't wait to see all the new changes at the Theatre
Have a fantastic night,
Steve Moyer x

And finally, I thought it would be nice to share these words which were sent to me by one of many international friends......

"The function of art is to renew our perception. What we are familiar with we cease to see. The writer shakes up the familiar scene, and, as if by magic, we see a new meaning in it.

Life is like a Snow globe......You can be content to let things settle or need to shake things up every once in a while and make your life magical.

Thanks to the theatre for giving all us a good shake."

Melissa Kelbus

Finally, we must thank the huge number of volunteers who have spent days and days putting the show together including Bradley King, Guy Lee, John Dobson, Stephen Billington, Laura Garner, Phil Hughe. They were here Tuesday night, most of Wednesday before the Awards - and until half twelve last night putting the Theatre back to normal for tonight's huge comedy club. Thank you to them and everyone else involved. Also thanks to Jean Honour, Barbara Roache and Martin Budgen for seeing everyone to their seats, and the bar team for working so hard.

Mark Reed and David Zelly

To all of you at phoenix98fx - Thanks so much for the coverage of The Brents and to Ed for stepping in to present my award. What a thrill!!
My only true entertainment as a very young child, besides the theater, was the radio. Thank heaven that "progress" hasn't negatively touched that medium and that it is and will always be around to provide us with a unique form of entertainment and education.
