Tomatos and Saveloys Welcome to Castle Rookard, where the shock horror headline this week is that, I have just harvested my forth tomato. So far I estimate that this latest harvest has brought down the total costing on my Tomato plantation to £9.25 per fruit – oh yes, the red monsters are classed as fruit not veg. For those interested, this is based on the one surviving plant out of the initial nine, grow bags, plant food, slug killers and water.. Also a sincere apology to the lass in my local chippy, who when buying a Saveloy, told her that these were harvested from a bush in New Zealand, before being conveyed by the famous Saveloy Sailing clippers to London. Her comment was that she wondered why they were in such short supply... and I said, the reason for that was the early frost in New Zealand, which explained the expense of the things. So sorry love it was all porkie pies. Bye for now, and please join me on a Sunday afternoon.
