August Community Football Surgery and Rain Stopped Play
On the first Saturday Kickabout for August Forest Glade FC's Mike Burchett visited the studio for the Community Football Surgery. We discussed training sessions, with a view to concentrating on individual and team skills along with the best ways of keeping the children's interest during a session. The Third Ashes Test was abandoned for the day without a ball being bowled after persistent rain left huge puddles on the outfield at Edgbaston. Dan Westram gave us the latest football news and results from pre-season friendlies. Dan also kept an eye on the recent transfers in the Premier League along with the ripening rumours.
John Walford gave us the latest news as Brentwood Cricket Club played Gidea Park & Romford. It was a day of mixed emotions as Brentwood batted first and achieved a score of 277 for 1 dec. Aaron west was 142 not out. Jonathan Walford was at 116. This left the club membership scanning the club results to see if the first wicket partnership of was a club record at 259. In response Gidea Park were 94-1 as rain stopped play. The match was abandoned at about 6.30pm.
