Mark Pinchin and Ian Clarkson - Scientology / Jive Aces

Click here to listen to the interview

Last week we had on Mark Pinchin and Ian Clarkson from the Church of Scientology in the studio. Mark has been the Public Affairs Director for 4 years and his role is to alongside other organisations with similar goals.  Ian is the lead singer and trumpet player from the popular “Jive Aces” who are the UK’s number 1 jive and swing band and he is also a local scientologist.

There isn’t a Scientologist church in Brentwood however the nearest church is on Queen Victoria Street in London, there are also churches in Manchester Birmingham Edinburgh Bournemouth Plymouth Brighton plus others (with 10 million members around the world). We spoke on the show about their anti-drug program “Say no to drugs say yes to life”, Human right educational programme and other great work they do in the community. We also spoke about the 8 dynamics (listen to the audio for more details), the founder of the church L. Ronald Hubbard and where the word “Scientology” comes from.

The core beliefs of the church of scientology are that man is a spirit, he has lived before and that man is good. Through wisdom and knowledge man can improve any area of his life he wants. Scientology is all denominational and non conversionary and members bring with them their own beliefs. You study scientology knowledge and apply it to your own life, scientology is like a handbook for life.

Ian also spoke to us about the Jive Aces, what they’ve been up to lately and the work they do to support the anti-drug campaign.  We played some of their songs which were great! For more information on the Jive Aces visit their website.
