Monday Classics 6th April 2009

All kinds of classics on the show tonight, from the sixteenth century right up to Lemar's current single.
As well as the music, we chatted about the Classical Brit Awards 2009, in May, and looked back at the
2008 event, and heard artists from these events.

I previewed the Phoenix FM events at the Brentwood Theatre later on in the year; there is a classical piano
concert on 20th September to be given by Benjamin Grosvenor, and we listenend to music by Chopin, similar

The Film Classic was from the 2000 film 'Gladiator' - music composed by Hans Zimmer

And the LP this week was from J S Bach's St Matthew Passion - telling the story of the events leading up
to the Crucifixion on Good Friday.

And in the less-classical classic news, remember to get yourself down to the Palace Theatre this Wednesday
8th April if The Real Thing is your thing, and Lemar plays the Cliffs Pavillion, Southend on Saturday 11th.
