25 Years

Middle Class Rut, 25 Years, is definitely my favourite track tonight. They have a At The Drive In/Death From Above 1979 feel about them. Rock and roll. Eagerly anticipating a debut album from them.
Placebo are back after a three break with a new album and a new drummer. Steven Hewitt left the band due to “personal and musical differences.” In comes drummer Steve Forrest of US band Evaline to take his place. New album Battle For The Sun is due out 8th June. In honour of the release, the band have given away the title track from their website, for free. Generous. Despite this, it’s pretty mediocre. Sticking to the same template has served them well; lest we forget Black Market Music which was a critical failure after they dabbled with a rap/industrial sound. I’m still trying to get it.
Other new tracks tonight came from Bleech, Kids Love Lies, Crocodiles, Fanfarlo, Grizzly Bear, Modern Rifles, Moron Says What?, Neko Case, Sleepy Sun, New Villager, Sharks & Sailors and Theoretical Girl.
