Sleeping Beauty
Monday Classics - 16th February 2009
I had three co-presenters to help me through the show - Claire Greenwood, from the
Chelmsford Ballet Company came into Phoenix to tell us about ballet in general,
the Diamond Jubilee of the Chelmsford Ballet Company and the storyline of Sleeping Beauty
to be performed at the Chelmsford Civic Theatre in March.

Claire's daughters Alice and Imogen helped me read out the Phoenix FM Classical Events
Guide - they were brilliant!
As the clock struck seven, we started with current R&B sinle 'Mad' by Ne-Yo, but what was
the classical connection? This song uses a classical string quartet in it's backing.
It's a brilliant song too - surely a future 'classic'...
The music continued like this:
Courante (Concerto no 10 in C Major) - Corelli (our birthday composer)
Overture (Nutcracker) - Tchaikovsky
Waltz (Sleeping Beauty) - Tchaikovsky
The Wind Down
'lascia ch'io pianga' (from Rinaldo) - Handel
'Braveheart' - James Horner - The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards
The Film Classic
'Mission Impossible III' - Michael Giacchino
'A Ka Ma Ka' (Cantata Mundi) - Karl Jenkins
The Grand Finale
3rd Movement (Symphony no 7 in A) - Beethoven
Join us for Monday Classics LIVE next Monday 23 February when Phoenix FM Studio 1 will be
hosting 5 young musicians from Brentwood Orchestras for Young Musicians and their director,
Ann Elderton. They will be performing live on the show - do join us for that.
Here are your Phoenix Classical Events, as mentioned this week.
