Bowie thumps Elvis, apparently

This week on Four Days 'Til The Weekend, I moaned a lot about the cold and the snow and the foolishness of drivers on icy roads in the Brentwood and Billericay area. Enthralling stuff. Fortunately, I also played some jolly bouncy music to make us dance.

We saw some new developments on the show this week. The first was the introduction of BATTLE OF THE BANDS - a new regular slot where you, the listeners, nominate a couple of legends to do battle, I play a record by said legends, then we all vote who's the best. Interactive or what? You can nominate in the chat room during the show, as we did this week, or before the show by email to radio@phoenixfm.com - mark it for my attention. The voting is best done in the chat room on the night for speed of adding up the votes by an independent adjudicator (me). You see, here at Phoenix FM we won't charge you £3.50 for a text message that won't count anyway! We're all about you, baby! This week, we had David Bowie doing battle with Elvis and... Bowie won. Who will the battle be between next week? You choose!

Another new development is the FEATURED ARTIST slot just after 9pm, where I will be playing three tracks by an artist or band who have made sterling contribution to dance music in this country. This week we started with the lovely Sister Sledge, who were truly fantastic before they jumped the shark and sang "Frankie".

So the playlist this week was:

Daft Punk - Robot Rock

Big Audio Dynamite - e_mc2

The Darkness - I Believe in a THing Called Love

Alanis Morrisette - All I Really Want

Outkast - Ms Jackson

Dandy Warhols - Bohemian Like You

Amy Winehouse - Tears Dry on Their Own

Real 2 Real - I Like to Move It (note = request for my children, OK?)

ATB - 9pm (til I come)

Rogue Traders - Voodoo Child

The Clash - I Fought the Law

David Bowie - Sound & Vision

Elvis - Way Down
