Curveballs Christmas Extra!
2008 has certainly been a great year for music on Curveballs, with over 30 bands joining us on the phone and in the studio! There’s been plenty of good music and banter, which hopefully we’ll be looking at more in January. In the meantime, seeing that it’s Christmas an’all, we’ve gone back through the archives and decided to bring you a few tracks performed live in the Phoenix FM studio you may have missed from earlier in the year. Enjoy! Salary Man Our first live session of the year. Featuring ex-members of Ragmop as well as Lasky’s drummer, Salary Man returned to the live scene in November, including a set at

Proving it’s nice to be nice, here’s a couple of tracks Neil performed for us in the studio in April, both of which can be found on his split CD with PJ & Gaby, Be Realistic – Demand The Impossible!. Neil went on to tour all over the

The Jays We’ve caught up with The Jays a few times at gigs, but this was their first trip to the Phoenix FM studio. A new EP from the trio is due in early 2009. They can be found at www.myspace.com/thejaysonline.
Alamode
All about the tunes, these local lads joined us in the studio back in May and played us a few tracks in session that are easily up there with the best of the year. Hear more from them at www.myspace.com/alamodeband. Alamode - Just Too Good To Be True
Deadbeat Alibi
One of our favourite discoveries of the year, ska seven-piece Deadbeat Alibi have a bucketful of bouncy tunes that are hard to resist - catch them live if you can! They recorded a Creative Session shortly before appearing on Curveballs in November. As a taster for that, here’s an acoustic track frontman Sam performed for us. Check out www.myspace.com/deadbeatalibi. Deadbeat Alibi - Revolving Door
The Tibetan Tea Company
The eclectic trio of Mike, Dan and Paul have become regular contributors on Phoenix FM in the last few months, having paid us a few visits to the studio as well as recording a Creative Session. This track is from their second live Curveballs appearance – watch out for that drum solo! Find what’s brewing at www.tibetanteacompany.co.uk.
The Tibetan Tea Company - Pressure
Many thanks to all Curveballs guests and listeners from throughout the year – enjoy the rest of your Christmas and New Year, see you back on January 7th at 10pm! Written by Nick Field
