The Saturday Kickabout Roundup - 29 November 2008
With more Rugby Union internationals, local football updates for the third round of the FA Cup and 5 Premier League matches kicking off at 3.00 it was another packed Saturday Kickabout.
Wales showed grit and determination as they managed to survive a late Australian fightback securing a 21-18 win at the Millennium Stadium. England played an indisciplined match at Twickenham, losing 6-32 to an in-form New Zealand All Blacks.
The Premier League looked as tight as ever after the following results:-
Aston Villa 0-0 Fulham
Middlesbrough 0-0 Newcastle
Stoke 1-1 Hull
Sunderland 1-4 Bolton
Wigan 2-1 West Brom
Roy Keane finished his 100th game in charge of Sunderland with a chorus of boos at the Stadium of Light.
We finished the show with the news that 2 Essex sides had made it to the 3rd round of the FA Cup as Leyton Orient beat Bradford 2-1. Southend had the edge over Luton as they ran-out winners at Roots Hall 3-1. It wasn't such good news for Grays Athletic as their 1st round replay at the New Recreation Ground ended in a 2-0 loss against Carlisle. Dagenham and Redbridge also bowed-out of the competition as they lost 3-2 at Leicester.
In League One Colchester won away from home, beating Northampton Town 2-1.
Billericay drew 1-1 with Maidstone. Brentwood will have a game to reschedule as their match against Witham was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Join us every Saturday from 4pm, in association with Acorn Window Services.
