We spoke to Su Garlick and Terry Vincent about the work of Brentwood Swimming Club. Terry spoke of the training in his role of coach, which is aimed at all ages and levels of ability from age 5 to senior master swimmers.  Terry also mentioned the club's Olympian swimmers, and the former British junior swimming champion Roberto Pavoni. Dave Ryan joined us on the phone as the Leopards Basketball team were warming up for next weekend's big match at the Brentwood Centre on Sunday September 21 as they play Kent Crusaders. Dave told us Leigh Greenan, who operated as back-up centre for the Big Cats last season returns to the club having been set to join Spanish First Division side Fuenlabrada.

The most surprising qualifying session of this year's Formula One season, with Torro Rosso driver Sebastian Vettel the youngest F1 driver in history on pole position for the Italian Grand Prix. A poor choice of tyres has Lewis Hamilton starting in his lowest ever position, 15th on the grid just behind Kimi Raikkonen.

A full day of football, with West Ham and Newcastle losing whilst under a caretaker-manager. It was a mixed day for the local sides, with Billericay Town beating Clacton 4-1 in the FA cup 1st qualifying round. Brentwood Town drew 1-1 with Arlesey Town and will have the replay on Tuesday night.
