The Saturday Kickabout with September's Community Football Surgery

Phoenix FM’s very own community football guru Mike Burchett and general secretary and coaching development manager at Forest Glade FC explained about the latest F.A. initiative, the Respect Campaign. This is operative on every level, from grass-roots to the Premier League.

We discussed the ruling on the banning of competition for footballers aged under eight, with the main reason for this possibly being caused by over-competitive parents.

Mike even also gave his thoughts on whether we will a British side for the 2012 Olympics - the common thought being that it should happen as it would be a missed opportunity if the host nation do not field a side.

In addition to the Community football, we spoke to the founder of the Norwegian Supporters Club of Billericay Town FC, Per-Helge Berg fresh from him watching Billericay draw 1-1 to Harrow Borough. Per-Helge referred to this match as a game of two halves!

With the opening ceremony of the Paralympics and the first matches of the World Cup Qualifiers, it was another action-packed show.
