Multi award-winning New York songwriter Rachael Sage has penned quirky, melodic pop songs since she was old enough to reach the piano keys. Over the course of her career, she has steadily built a loyal grassroots fan base with a rigorous international tour schedule, performing in inventive configurations featuring Wurlitzer, drums, trumpet and string quartet.

Like her musical idol Elvis Costello, she's endlessly fascinated with the crafts of song writing and arrangement, and counts Buddy Holly, The Beatles, David Bowie and perhaps most surprisingly, John Lee Hooker among her biggest inspirations.

This week she popped into the Phoenix FM studios for a chat with Steve Mead on the Playlist, Rachel arrived with her keyboard and violinist Jacob and pulled off, quite possibly, the best performance we have ever heard on Phoenix FM in our hot, hot studio!

Rachel's new album "Chandelier" is released on the 4th August.  She is also playing in London on the 7th, at the 12 Bar Club in Central London.

She is also heavily involved with the New  Arrivals: Volume Three (NAV3) CD, which is the third instalment in the MPress Records' charity compilation series, "conceived by MPress founder and Independent Music Award winner, Rachael Sage. Volume 3 features a wealth of talent from around the globe: 2007 Toronto Independent Music Award winner Ember Swift, Aussie rockers The Kin (heard on "Army Wives"), L.A.-based Lelia Broussard and Adrienne Pierce (heard on "Veronica Mars"),
South Carolina's Jay Clifford (heard on "Grey's Anatomy"), New York "Fox 5 Subway Idol" Theo Eastwind, indie veteran Stephen Kellogg, plus a bonus cut from platinum-selling "Toad The Wet Sprocket" singer Glen Phillips".

The albums support various good causes, Vol 3's are;
