Friday 18th: The Tournament of Roses

On Friday I was joined by John Wyndham head of the Brentwood British Legion Band who was telling me about the opportunity they have to march in the biggest parade in the world on New Years Day 2009, and the man who was organising it, the elected president of the Tournament of Roses Corky Conzonire (and he and his wife brought me and Steve some free badges and keyrings so thanks very much for those!)

Although its not massive over here the Tournament of Roses is a 6 mile long parade which attracts a tv audience of over 30million people in America alone, and gets up to 1.5million people on the streets watching every year! And this years theme is 'Hats Off to Entertainment!'.

Corky will be presenting a standard to the band, which will accepted on their behalf by  Lord Peter, as an official invitiation this weekend at the Ingatestone and Fryerning Show at about 4pm and then Corky is off to travel around the world publicising the event and meeting all the other bands he has personally picked to march in the parade.
