Hutton Community Centre
A major refurbishment of Hutton community centre is now near completion. The centre has been totally revamped - a total rewire, new toilets, new heating system, a new bar area in the main hall and new flooring throughout.
£50,000 was donated by Essex County Council, which got the project off to flying start. It was hoped that the centre would be a part of the Olympic bid for holding camps for 2012, but lack of funding being available meant that the centre missed out, even though Brentwood Borough Council was handed a letter of intent from Boxing USA at a team match England v USA at the Café Royal in London’s Regent Street. The Management Committee at the centre are still hopeful that funding will become available for the new extensions in the near future and have funding advisers working to bring that phase of the project to a reality.
