Sunday 20th April - Get Blooming Brentwood20th April - Brentwood in Bloom
In The News This Week
Gardening related articles in the press this week……………..
The Times this week reported that the worlds oldest tree has been found in Sweden! The Spruce is believed to be 10, 000 years old! The age was tested in Florida.
Ozone is killing off the sweet smells of summer. Apparently ozone smog is a big problem and stops the scent of flowers travelling very far so stopping insects from flying to pollinate them The worst areas are near the sea where a combination of salt in the air and pollution from ships and factories combined make very dense smog.
This week I was recommended a great book. An Illustrated Encyclopedia of Clematis by Mary Toomey and Everett Leeds. I don’t often borrow a book then immediately put it on my wish list but this book is an excellent coffee table book as well as a really good reference book.
Visited a great nursery this week. Langthornes Plantery near Great Dunnmow. Good selection of plants at a reasonable price. I spent too much there!
