Billericay In Bloom

Billericay Town Council is now accepting entries for the 2008 Billericay in Bloom gardening competition.

This annual gardening event goes from strength to strength and is now in its eleventh year. In 2007 there were over 100 entries in the eleven categories ranging from Large Front Gardens to Best Flower Garden in a Pot. 

Residents, local businesses, schools and public houses can all participate in this event, which is an excellent way of showcasing gardening skills, sharing a passion for plants or garden design or simply bringing a taste of summer to the community. 

This year’s categories are:

A. Best Kept Small Front Garden (*1000 sq ft or less)
B. Best Kept Large Front Garden (more than *1000 sq ft)
C. Best Kept Small Back Garden (*1500 sq ft or less)
D. Best Kept Large Back Garden (more than *1500 sq ft)             [*including paths and drives]
E. Best Home Grown Hanging Basket
F. Best Sheltered Accommodation Garden
G. Best Commercial Premises
H. Best Public House
I. Best Vegetable Plot [can include soft fruit - min 60sq ft - must be within the confines of the property]
J. Herb Garden in a Pot – Primary Schools only
Note: Circular containers maximum diameter 450mm (18"). Work to be that of the individual child. Containers to be labelled with child’s name, class and school.

The closing date for 2008 entries is 12 noon on 30th June 2008. Judging will take place on 6th and 7th of July 2008 and prizes will be awarded on 18th July at The Canon, Roche Social Centre, Laindon Road. Only entries within the Billericay Town Council boundaries can be accepted.
