The NewsdeskThe Newsdesk Matt Holder, Editor in Chief of the Essex Chronicle Media Group, publishers of your local newspapers, the Brentwood Gazette and the Billericay Gazette, was in the studio. With him was Deanne Blaylock, the Community Editor at the Gazette whose job is to ensure the Gazette is a must-read week after week. The Gazette has been serving Brentwood and the surrounding towns since 1919 and it’s a real honour to be invited by Phoenix to host this programme. What they'll be doing is looking through some of the week’s headlines and then talking about how we tackled them, the feedback that they've had and the pitfalls that they’ve managed to avoid. Hopefully it will help Gazette readers out there get an insight into how they go about getting the stories. And maybe they'll even persuade some of you non-readers to pick up a copy and have a look. In future weeks, they’ll be lining up some of the key players in the news…community champions…and people in the know - and chatting to them about why they made the headlines and what they think of Brentwood and Billericay. This week Brandon Lewis, Leader of Brentwood Borough Council was in the studio tackling subjects such as;
The High Street regeneration. The recent problem with youths causing a nuisance in the town. Bishop Reed An air rifle attack in Hutton He was also subjected to quick fire questions to help us get to know him better.
