Sunday 30th March 2008

Hello, hello, hello, did I mention hello?! Its 80s time again on Phoenix FM with my good self Rachel Arnold!

Hope you had a lovely day on this Sunny and almost Spring like Sunday. Hope you remembered to turn your clocks forward, as it would be odd at this stage of the day if you had cottoned on, ho ho!

The first of my top 3 this week on the first hour was the top 3 cheesiest songs of the 80s, and by jingo there was a lot to choose from! But I finally wilted it down to three of the cheesiest and it was; Especially For You By Jason Donovan & Kylie Minogue at 3 from 1988, Can’t Fight This Feeling By REO Speedwagon at 2 from 1985 and at no. 1 was the cheesiest of them all…..wait for it…..it was… (Drum roll & cymbal) Solid by American duo Ashford & Simpson from 1985!

On my second half of the show, my top 3 from my 1980s featured Artist for this week was loveable cockney Phil Collins! My top 3 was; Invisible Touch from his days when he was with Genesis at 3 from 1986, Another Day In Paradise at 2 from 1989 and at no. 1 it was his first, and biggest hit from 1981, you know what song it is when you hear that drum beat, In The Air Tonight!!!

My 1980s TV recommendation for this week is the 1945 novel, Brideshead Revisted from 1981, starring actor Jeremy Irons. The whole series is available to buy on a Boxset DVD, with lots of special features so worth a buy!!!

My 1980s Film recommendation fro this week is Beverly Hill Cop from 1984, starring comedian Eddie Murphy! Believe me; this film is better than the sequels that appeared after this! This film is now available to buy on a single DVD or as an complete box set with the other films!

Did anyone see the final part of Ashes to Ashes on BBC One on Thursday? Brilliant and totally unexpected! Never would have imagined that the clown who represent Alex Drakes dad! And could Gene Hunt be a real character instead of a made up one???
Happy that there will be another series next year with all that 80s greatness, but I can’t having to wait that long! I knew there would be another series!
