Birthday Show!!!

Well this week proved to be a cracker from the start! To begin with its Phoenix FM’s First ever birthday! Yes it’s been exactly one year since we got a fulltime licence! Also Anna and I are doing a 3 hour show this week! Yeas that’s right they let us loose for 3 whole hours!!!!

We had a few songs to kick off:
Block Party – Two More Years
U2 – Vertigo

Then in the studio we had Kat and Paul from local band Ghostwood Shanks joining us to help celebrate our first birthday! We started off with a chat about the band formed etc which was interrupted by Oliver coming in to try and get memory stick after not realising we were on air!! Then we hit them with a few quick fire questions! Such as Coke or Pepsi? Football or Rugby? And the one that brought the best answer Tom or Anna which ended in the answer Tanna, and two very red faced band members! They then played us 3 Songs which were: Leather-Clad Free Marketeers, Do The Hop and Be My Wife. Which I thought was all really rather good! And everyone else in the studio agreed! (All the videos are available via the homepage)

We then went into a frenzy of music and random chat which included;

Embrace – Looking as you are
Alphabeat – Fascination
Goldfrapp – Happiness
Kooks – Always Where I Need To be
One Night Only – Just For Tonight
Aerosmith – Dude Looks Like A Lady
The Feeling – Thought It Was Over
The Gossip – Standing In The Way Of Control
Rihana – Is Its Love You Want
LCD Sound System – Daft Punk Is Playing At My House

After that really rather random selection of music we had Liam Tolan from Phoenix Regulars Sopranos to help us celebrate our Birthday! He came armed with his guitar ready for 3 live tracks after a quick chat with Anna and me in the studio! We started off with the normal how did your band begin questions we then went into the now legendary (well in the studio anyway) quick fire questions, which ended with the same question that tripped up Kat and Paul, Tom or Anna which this time just ended in Anatomy and again a very red faced Liam! We let him Clam Down while we played a couple of songs then we had 3 live tracks from Liam which were; Dirty Tricks, Secrets and Last Night I Fell In Love. Which had everyone in the studio tapping there feet! And dancing around (Bryan)! So thanks for that Liam!! (once again all the videos are avalible via the hompage!)

So after the two bands to celebrate Phoenix’s birthday we then went back to trying to fit in all our normal features well just mums’ song and random facts! But first we had more amazing music! Which was:
Corrs – Run Away
Adele –Cold shoulder
The Thirst – Sail Away
Timberland – Scream

We then had random facts for next week which included that Monday was world TB day, Thursday was the start of The Vitality Show, Olympia and that Thursday also saw the start of the Lesbian and gay film Festival

We then had music from REM and Duffy then we went straight into mum’s song! Which this week was chosen by our very own Steve Meads Mum! She choose Chain Reaction by Diana Ross, which in every ones opinion was a very good choice! J

We then finished the show with twenty minutes of party songs to help celebrate Phoenix Fm’s first birthday! Which included?

Weather Girls – It’s Raining Men
Pointer Sisters – Jump For My Love
Bannarama – Preacher Man

After a fun filled 3 hours we handed over to Steve mead with the sports show!

So for another week byeeee!

Tom
