Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday
After this weekend many amateur gardeners get all sorts of ailments from spending four days gardening. Back pain is the main condition. We have this urge to get out of the house particularly if it is nice weather but this Easter has been a horticultural disaster!
Snow and cold weather has kept us all indoors, but I know many of you have been buying your Sweet Peas but hopefully not Summer Bedding! Traditionally Easter is when garden centres stock up on there summer bedding but please delay buying theses for a long time yet unless you are prepared to keep them indoors! Sweet Peas bought last week will survive on a sunny windowsill but keep them cool.
Plant of the Week
Kerri japonica “Pleniflora” (Jews Mallow or Japanese Rose)
An easy to grow spring flowering shrub. Stands light shade and almost any type of soil. Has double pom-pom type yellow flowers in March and April. Grows to about a metre high and spreads to about a metre but can be kept under control by chopping around the plant annually.
Tune in next week to hear more gardening news views tips and answers to your questions.
Happy Gardening
