It’s that’s time of the week again! Hello and welcome to this edition of Back in the 80s, playing the best of the 80s classics but also including the top 3 of the best of 80s music and also 80s TV and Film recommendations for this week!
The first of my top 3 this week was the top 3 selling records of 1983, which were David Bowies Lets Dance at 3, Irene Caras What a Feeling (Theme to flash dance) at 2 and Michael Jackson’s Bille Jean at 1! I was surprised that Every Breathe You Take by The Police was not in there, as that was a best selling track of 1983! Weird ay?
The second of my top 3 was my 1980s artist of the week Madonna! Material Girl from 1985 came in at 3, Into The Groove from 1985 in at 2 and at number 1 was perhaps her finest hour, Life to Tell from 1985!
My 1980s TV recommendation for this week is the detective drama Juliet Bravo which broadcasted on BBC One between 1980 to 1985 and was perhaps the first detective show where the woman was a lead! Series one to six is now available to buy from www.bbcshop.com.
My 1980s film recommendation for this week is a weepy, but with an edge of comedy in it. Terms of Endearment, winner of best picture in 1983 and which stars Shirley MacClaine, Debra Winger and Jack Nicholson, is about the ups and downs of a mother/daughter relationship and Wingers untimely discovery that she has cancer.
Worth a watch and I promise you, you will be crying towards the end! This film is now available on DVD at all good retail stockists.
Now time for the play list for this week! :-)!!!!!! Indicates a request!
