Tomorrow over 3,600 runners are expected to race in the 27th Brentwood half marathon and fun run. Ken Holmes, from organisers Brentwood a Becket Rotary Club, guested on the Saturday Pitstop this morning to tell listeners more..

Entries are up on the record 3,000 received in 2007 - thanks to an online registration system launched this year. £500 prizes are available to best male and female beating the half marathon course records of one hour, 10 minutes for men and one hour, 22 mins for women.

Prizes will also be given to most creatively dressed adult and child fun runners tackling their five kilometre course in costume. The family atmosphere will be helped by the Royal British Legion Junior Band playing and Sawyers Church offering refreshments and activities to runners, families and other supporters.

Total money raised by Brentwood a Becket Rotary Club for charity from the event since its inception is £800,000 - divided between local causes (59%), national charities (18%) and international Rotary Club emergency, health and education campaigns (23%).

Brentwood's 2008 half marathon starts Sawyers Hall Lane at 10am, followed by the fun run at 10.20am

Roads closed from 8.30am to 1pm: Sawyers Hall Lane and Highland Avenue

Road restrictions from 10am: A12 Mountnessing roundabout, St Anne's Road and Hall Lane
