Mark blog – week seven
Monday 25 February 2008

Having talked about Elegies every time I go on Phoenix, it was a pleasure to welcome onto A WANDER THROUGH THE ARTS the man who was the iconic image at the centre of the production, actor and model LIONEL BISHOP whose, well, face and more adorned the publicity, causing a bit of a stir.

In just a few years as an actor, predominately with The New Venture Players, Lionel has appeared in many plays and it was the music from those productions that he chose to play, as follows:--

1. The Penguin Café Orchestra
2. Generoso Risuegliati (HASSE) – An Experiment With An Air Pump
3. Requiem – Rex Tremendae (MOZART) - Dracula
4. Adieu. Adieu – The Vortex
5. Aria from Tristan & Isolde – Jack The Ripper
6. My Brother Lived in San Franciso – Elegies for Angels, Punks and Ragin g Queens
7. A Streetcar Named Desire
8. Song and Dance

With all due respect to my seven other guests, I will be going out on a high with someone most of those guests know and love – Paul Tomkinson, who is a published poet, writes musicals, and spent many years on the West End stage, most importantly taking over from Wayne Sleep in Song and Dance (and being acknowledged as better….)

So please do join me for my final Wander Through The Arts – well, for now, at least.
