It goes something a little like this..........
........BOOM!
This week I didn't really have a clue as to what I was going to do until just before thw show, after a pig of a day messing about with TRANSMITTERS and what not I wasn't really in the mood for it.
Luckily Les, the show before me, had a big Carter USM announcement on his show, they will be playing AGAIN this year, with two dates, the 21st and 22nd of November, the former date will be in the midlands and the latter one in Brixton. So, on honour of that, I decided to make Carter USM artist of the week and consequently played three songs per hour by them.
The ever reliable Marni called in again this week with, in the end three tracks, which have a brief description below the playlist, and what a playlist it is, have a butchers;
Tom Vek - Nothing But Green Lights
Gliss - Falling To Pieces
Echo and the Bunnymen - I want To be There (When You Come)
Carter USM - Cheer Up It Might Never Happen
JJ72 - Oxygen
Odi - What You Deserve
Hot Puppies - Terry
Carter Usm - After The Watershed (early learning the hard way)Pet Shop Boys - Rent
Rialto - Monday Morning 5.15
The Boxer Rebellion - We Have This Place Surrounded
Carter USM - My Second To Last Will And Testament
The Futureheads - Decent Days And Nights
Baddies - Tiffany I'm Sorry

The Shakes - I Want A Better Life

Children Collide - We Are Amphibious
Spiderbait - We Are Amphibious

Some corkers in there, I'm sure you'll agree, or maybe you won't, send all complaints to the Station Manager via the contacts page HERE
Marni, as usual delivered the goods, here is what she had to say;
This week’s bands are both from Melbourne.

The song we played wass “We Are Amphibious”
Have a look at this! Supporting the Wombats!
Check out their gig guide for show supports of the Wombats from the UK.
"Who are the Wombats Steve?" (Naturally I obliged and played them on air the following day, I played "Moving To New York")
Next we had “Spiderbait”
http://www.spiderbait.com.au
Kram: on drums and vocals
Janet: the sexy bass player (every band needs a sexy bass player)
Whitt: on guitar/sampler/vocals
The song is a cover of Sunshine On My Window! It was short but very sweet!
Janet is on vocals.
That was all really except for a last minute addition to the Australian features and this is special because it’s new to Marni and it’s independent and that’s what she's all about. Promoting indie bands that are GREAT!
This is a song from a band called “INTERNATIONAL FLANNEL” and it’s called “Blood and Bone” We’ll be playing another tune from them next week on Vm and giving out some info on the band and what’s going on with them.

Stay tuned for that next week!
Lastly she plugged her myspace site because she needs some more friends and more bands. More GREAT bands!!

Add her and let her know what you think of Australian music!
Until next time.......as you were......
