Pancakes, Pirates and Pink Floyd

Ever so slightly belated look at last week on Rising (it would have happened earlier, but I typed it all out and then the computer crashed and bad things occured, and ... well I'm sure you're not really bothered- the main thing is it's here now!)

So anyway, what was going on?

Of course it was Pancake Day. Rather than faffing about making up batter and then dropping the stupid things on the floor when trying to flip them, this year we went down the ready made route... and actually I was pleasantly surprised- Aunt Bessie's definitely played a blinder there... and meant I came into the studio on Wednesday still cheerily stuffed.

I also welcomed, for the first of what's going to be a regular monthly slot with Adrian Ure of Essex Library Services. This time we had a bit of a chat about the Essex Book Festival and some of the other events that are going on in Brentwood Library-  Pirate training apparently is the order of the day- its what they're getting up to for half term.

And on the Pink Floyd front, well that was all part of our 6 Degrees of Chas and Dave.... which panned out thus...
Pink Floyd  went on tour with Jimi Hendrix  reeeally early on in their career to try and boost their popularity in the States; Jimi Hendrix was managed by Chas Chandler of The Animals; The Animals 'House of the Rising Sun' became the first British Invasion number 1 hit not connected with the Beatles; However, befrore the Beatles, Lonnie Donnegan was definitely the person to have the most success in the states. Chas and Dave were massive fans of Lonnie Donnegan, in fact they wrote Lonnie D  in tribute to him, which is now used as the opening number in Lonnie D the Musical

Other things that went on that didn't begin with P... I asked for excercise horror stories, following my hideous experience with a 'Body Pump' class. Go google it, then you'll understand why I couldnt walk for two days after it! Cue many stories of dislocated bones and a sizeable number of people who came off the back of treadmills... Oh and I mused on whether it was wrong to eat spring rolls from the platter that had been left out of the fridge all night, from the Chinese New Year celebrations... I gave it a go... they were pretty horrible

Until next week peeps xx
