| attending the tale of sweeney todd, the welcome return of gladiators and no bikes for brentwood
Can't believe how quickly we've yomped through January- s'mazin- I'm actually writing the roundup well and truly esconced in February...
Anyway, that aside, what did we talk about last week?
Well, I went to see Sweeney Todd at the pictures- twas brilliant and I highly recommend it- Johnny Depp sounds a little bit like David Bowie and aside from all the blood and people getting their throats slit (which, lets face it, you can just look away for- I did) was a dead good film- Cast was spot on, Alan Rickman and Timothy Spall were suitably evil and there was even the odd tension-breaking comedy moment in there too- A very enthusiastic thumbs up from me!
Another bit of good news was that Sky One are bringing back a little slice of my childhood, with Gladiators! Obviously, all the original glads are a bit too old to be doing it again, but one person who will be returning is John 'Contenders Reeeaaaaadddy!' Anderson to do the refereeing- Can NOT wait for that!
A bit closer to home, we got bad news at the end of the week that the Olympic Mountain Biking event wont be coming to Weald Park for 2012, which was extremely sucky, but hopefully it'll still be held in Essex
Other stuff that happened, I discovered that Jocelyn Brown is rubbish, Simon Amstel is extremely full of himself (and has very little reason to be), and Im still not very good at running (6 mile Sport Relief Rin, mid March, current distance able to run, half a mile. Damn- think Im going to have to work a bit harder at this)
Oh, and the 6 Degrees of Chas and Dave, if youre interested, ran something like this:
1-The Police
2- As Sting starred in Quadrophenia, we got to the Who
3-The Who reunited in 1985 to play Live Aid, as did Dire Straits.
4-One man very involved with making sure Live Aid ran properly was Midge Ure, of Ultravox5-Midge also played guitars, briefly, for Thin Lizzie
6 and Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzie joined up with Chas of Chas and Dave to release a single as the Rockers
