As you may already know Koopa are leaving us to go and make a debut album in the USA.

However in a special email interview Joe from Koopa answers questions like where the name Koopa comes from and how a sound limiter met its maker when it got on the wrong side of Ollie…

How long have you been together?

5 YEARS AS A WORKING BAND


Did any of you know how to play musical instruments before the band?

STU WENT TO DRUM TECH IN LONDON BUT CAN ALSO PLAY KEYBOARD / OLLIE WAS TAUGHT GUITAR AT A ROCK SCHOOL IN BRIGHTON / JOE IS SELF TAUGHT

Where did your band name come from?

ITS OLLIES AND STUS SURNAME SPELT DIFFERANTLY = COOPER = KOOPA

What was your first performance like?

TO BE HONEST OK - IT WAS A BATTLE OF THE BANDS AND WE WON £20

Where was your first major performance?

THATS HARD TO SAY OUR FIRST LIVE GIG WAS AT THE 333 CLUB IN LONDON - BUT THE FIRST MAJOR PERFORMANCE WAS AT THE ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL I SUPPOSE

Do you get nervous performing?

I DO (JOE) I HAVE ASHOT OF BRANDY FOR THE NERVES AND VOCAL CHORDS - OLLIE AND STU ARE COOL AS CUCUMBERS

Who has the worst habit?

STU IS VERY VERY INPATIENT AND HE DRIVES US CRAZY.... HE CAN NOT SIT STILL

Who are your musical influences?

 APART FROM EACH OTHER THEN GREEN DAY / BLINK 182 / BEATLES - TO BE HONEST THERES A LOT AS WE ARE ALL VERY IN TO MUSIC..

Who influences your own songs?

OLLIE WRITES FROM THE HEART SO I WOULD SAY OLLIE


When and where is your next gig?

 THE TEK IN DAGENHAM ON FRIDAY 18TH JAN .... THEN THE NEXT GIG IS IN MOSCOW!!! THEN WE HEAD OFF TO THE USA....

If you could work with anyone in the music industry who would it be and why?

WE WOULD LOVE TO WORK WITH JERRY FINN AS HE HAS WORKED WITH A LOT OF THE BANDS WE ADMIRE LIKE GREEN DAY

What are your plans for the future?

 WELL WE JUST GOT SIGNED AND WE HEAD OFF TO THE USA TO RECORD OUR FIRST ALBUM WITH THE LABEL - THEN WE PLAY AT THE SXSW FESTIVAL IN TEXAS THEN HOPEFULLY FESTIVALS HERE THEN A UK TOUR LATER IN THE YEAR

Have you had any bizzare moments/interruptions while performing?

WELL RECENTLY WE GOT REALLY ANNOYED BY A SOUND LIMITER AT A GIG AND OLLIE RIPPED IT OFF THE WALL....

APART FROM THAT THERES BEEN THE ODD POWER CUT NOW AND AGAIN
