Quite a mellow show tonight, what with it being Christmas and all that ... although we did give a play to the wonderful new singles from THE SULTANS OF PING and local indie rock band BADDIES, plus we played some atmospheric classics from two albums being released in 2008 - the title track from ex-My Life Story frontman Jake Shillingford's "Written Large", and a song with a local flavour and a sad tale to boot from British Sea Power's excellently titled third album "Do You Like Rock Music?"
Once again the show had an international flavour, with acts from Australia (Kat Frankie), Sweden (The Cardigans), Japan (Ikimono Gakari), Ireland (Sultans), USA (various), The Faroe Islands (Gestir), Germany (erm, OK, Art Brut's song is about a third division German football team), and Newcastle (Maximo Park). We have given Newcastle back to Scotland, right .....?
