Presenter Oliver Rowe welcomed the Brentwood Bus & Rail Users Association into the studio following the announcement that £5 million is to be spent updating Brentwood station.

Association secretary David Kendall welcomed the plans for a new ticket office, lifts and disabled access after two years campaigning.

But he had reservations about the other part of the development – a multi-storey car park and flats on the station's existing ground-level car park on the other side of Kings Road.

A planning application is to follow in the New Year, revealing full details of the scheme which carries a 2012 deadline for completion.  The town's already preparing for increased rail and road traffic bringing spectators to Brentwood to watch the Olympics mountain biking stage in Weald Park.
