Steve Robertson

All about Steve ...

Favourite bands/artists

REM and Blur are always good favourites for a long car journey (which is always a good test of decent music).

I have a fairly eclectic taste in music and would happily listen to Ella Fitzgerald and Oscar Peterson along with Bloc Party and Spoon.

Favourite books

I generally prefer reading biographies. This was a habit I got into after reading Grahma Hill's autobiography at quite a young age. Nikki Lauda's To Hell and Back is another book I would read more than once.

The Nation's Favourite: True Adventures of Radio 1 is another book I have read on a number of occasions. I would recommend it to anyone thinking of working in media, because it's a true story.

Favourite TV and films

I do tend to watch a lot of sport on TV. Motor sport programmes and Top Gear for silly escapism (even with the annoying Jeremy Clarkson). Traditional British comedy such as Porrige and Morecambe and Wise still make me laugh, no matter how many times I've seen the same show. Phoenix Nights and Gavin & Stacey are also recent shows I would gladly watch more than once.

Frasier is another old favourite, not just for the radio theme either.

As far as films go, true to life comedies along the lines of Spinal Tap and Office Space. Serious films such as the Shawshank Redemption and Downfall are films which have left a lasting impression, although I find these more demanding to watch and have yet to watch more than once.

One other thing I love

I love my wife's cooking (she does a mean cheesy bake).

One thing I really hate

Bananas. I think I must be bananaphobic.
