Creative Sessions Vol 4 - 2008

INVITATION TO BANDS

Brentwood and Billericay’s full time community radio station Phoenix FM has teamed up again with the Creative Music Studios in East Horndon to record our fourth set of sessions.

A select number of artists are invited to come down to the studios, record a few songs (minimum of three but more if time permits) – and then get out quickly for the next artist! We’re then going to feature the songs heavily on air, web broadcasts and website write-ups. The sets can be either electric or acoustic. We’re doing this because we support local bands, unsigned acts and anyone who we think should be getting a lot more radio airplay!

WHY CREATIVE?

We love having bands playing at the Phoenix FM studios but because of space restrictions we can only broadcast acoustic sessions with a minimum of instruments. At Creative we can do the full band thing. They are SESSIONS though, which is why we only have about an hour of studio time.

The first three volumes of Creative Sessions featured recordings from over 50 bands across a variety of genres. These songs have been played frequently on Phoenix FM over the last 18 months or so. You can hear Phoenix FM on 98.0 FM or on line at www.phoenixfm.com.

WHEN ARE THEY TAKING PLACE?

Saturday 1 November, Saturday 15 November and Saturday 6 December 2008.

The Creative Studios are at Unit 2a, Middleton Hall, Brentwood Road, East Horndon, Brentwood, Essex. Brentwood Road is just off the A128, about 1.25 miles south of the junction with the A127 (Halfway House), which in turn is 3 miles east of J29 of the M25.

Once agreed, you’ll need to get there about 30 minutes before your time slot and we’ll be looking to keep you in the studio for about 50-60 minutes depending on number of people, equipment etc and then we’ll rush you out again. We’ll be taking photos and carrying out interviews as well.

Creative studios will supply a 200W Trace Elliot bass amp, 2 x Marshall 100W guitar amps and a Mapex ProM drum kit. Drummers should bring their own snare, cymbals, double bass pedals etc as they see fit.

Other that that, if the guitarists want to use their own amps, they must have a "line out" socket available but you should all be aware that the more time you spend setting up your own gear, the less time will be left for the session.

Finally ... we like swearing as much as the next man or woman (in fact, probably more than the next man or woman) but the songs will be given daytime radio play so please ... no swearing in the lyrics, or it will be a bit of a waste of time for all of us as we won't be able to play them.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THAT?

We’re aiming to play all the session songs in a series of special radio programmes in the New Year, and then will feature recordings in our various programmes after that date.

Ownership of the recordings will remain with Phoenix FM and Creative, but we will send over MP3 copies to you after they have been played on Phoenix FM for the first time, and then you can do what you like with them after that.

We are also looking to possibly put out a limited-edition CD to coincide with the broadcast which will be distributed around the music industry, and would like your consent to release one session track for the CD.

So if you want to take part please fill this in and we'll get back to you via email.
