After queuing fir THREE HOURS on Friday to see Clean Bandit and Gorgon City AND THEN not getting in because they had already hit capacity I started my show with songs from both bands just to make myself feel a bit better and brought the festival to Phoenix 98 FM instead! Speaking of Festivals …. It is Brentwood Festival next weekend with amazing headliners such as Jocelyn Brown, Real Thing anndddd Status Quo! So Marielle’s Moments was filled with songs from all three legends today! Hopefully I gave you a little taster of what to expect at Brentwood Festival this year and if you can’t make it… at least you had your mini festival on Marielle’s Moments!
Marielle’s Moments has now moved from 2pm-4pm to 10am-12 EVERY Sunday! So if you had a busy night last night and rolled over to put phoenix on you would have heard the lovely sounds of Stevie Wonder to start of my show. To encourage the sunshine to stay out I played the song of the summer ‘Despacito’ by Justin Bieber. And for those making them most of the sunshine, whilst having a BBQ listening to phoenix I kept things upbeat of you with one of my mums favorites, Lionel Ritchies, ‘Dancing on the Ceiling’ . I then had a sneaky look at this weeks charts and picked my three faves for the week which included, number 12 in the charts – ‘Pretty Girl’ by Maggie Lindemann feat Cheat Codes. Number 11- Ed Sheerans, ‘Shape of You’, Rita Ora at 10 with ‘Your Song’ and then played a random selection of this week charts throughout the rest of my show, whilst keeping you up to date with this weeks celeb gossip. Tune in next week for more of ‘Marielle’s Moments’.
I was lucky enough to have the amazing Poder De Tres on Marielle’s Moments today…
Not only did we giggle our way through the show, I was lucky enough to be graced with LIVE music from this wonderful trio, putting their own twist to many famous covers such as ‘latch, valerie and I need a dollar’. These guys are free for weddings and parties and you can find them on their Poder De Tres page on facebook or twitter. If you missed them on my show this week, FEAR NOT… because I will be playing a few of their covers on my show next week and the week after that and the week after that… yuppp won’t be getting bored of these guys any time soon. ANNDDDDD I will be having them back on my show as soon as they will come back!!!!! A big thank you to Poder De Tres for brightening up my Sunday afternoon xxxx
Starting my show this week with Alisha Dixon’s ‘Boy Does Nothing’, dedicated to Tony Smith as he hobbled around the studio with a bad back due to putting the dishes in the dish washer?!!!! Ridiculous man!!!
Had a few new tracks this week with Tinie Tempah’s ‘Text From Your Ex’ and Katy Perry’s ‘Chained To The Rhythm’… Also Discussing Katys controversial performance at The Brits, having President Trump and Theresa May as dancing Skeletons…. She’s one brave girl!!
Tune in next week for more of Marielle’s Moments
Ok we are just TWO weeks away from Christmas and with Christmas trees hanging above my head in the studio, attending the Billericay Christmas market last week and wearing my Christmas jumper I am feeling rather festive. So today I played one of my favourite Christmas songs by Leona Lewis ‘One More Sleep’ and a few other Christmassy classics that you might be a bit more familiar with such as Chris Rea’s ‘Driving Home For Christmas’ and of course Mariah Carey’s ‘All I want For Christmas Is You’. Check out our events page on the Phoenix Fm website if you are looking for ways to get in to the Christmas spirit. I will be back next week to get you in the mood and to talk about our new X factor winner. Who will it be?!
We were incredibly lucky here at Phoenix Fm on Sunday as the SEEEEENNNSSSSAATIONAAALL Steve Williamson was in the studio with myself and Nigel. He was telling us about his hectic lifestyle, he had not long got back from performing in the Dominican Republic and was back to his home in Birmingham but managed to squeeze in a quick live session with us at Phoenix, singing Soul and Motown classics such as Lionel Richie and Luther Vandross!! He even responded to my special request and sang my mum and dads wedding song, Always and Forever. Which was absolutely beautiful!!!! I was left with goosebumps. Delighted to have him in the studio and can’t wait to have him back.
Loved doing my show this morning! I tried my best to lure in the sunshine by kicking off my show with Eddy Grants, ‘Walking on Sunshine’, but it didn’t quite work! But hopefully I managed to get you in to the Sunday spirit this morning! I will be back normal time next Sunday 4-6pm and we will see next week what will be Marielles Moments story of the week. This week it involved a 65 year old lay, a washing line and a frilly pair of knickers! Tune in next week to find out!
Myself and Libby were lucky enough to meet the ledgendary Soul ll Soul and The Brand New Heavies at the Brentwood Festival. We had a great time interviewing Mr Jazzie B himself from Soul ll Soul who was jetting off to Ibiza the following morning to do his set! And the lovely Simon from the Brand New Heavies was telling us how he juggled his rock and roll lifestyle with being a father! Both bands were incredible and really got the Brentwood Festival up on their feet and partying! I will be playing their music on my show regularly now to help me relive the moment
‘There’s an elephant in the room. Or rather, a corpse in the trunk.
Ralf and Sarah are hosting a dinner party. To spice things up they convince their guests there’s a dead body in their trunk. The ultimate ice-breaker’. The lovely Matt Lynch gave us at phoenix fm an insight in to the brilliant play that he is in currently at the Lion and the Unicorn theatre in Kentish Town from the 2ND-7TH MAY and the 9TH-14TH MAY.
I absolutely loved having Matt on my show, and can not wait to see him perform !
Thank you to everyone who has tuned in to my NEW show!!!! I have finally shaken off the new radio presenter nerves and already can not wait for my third show this Sunday at 4-6pm. Please tweet me @missmarielle1 or @phoenixfm with your record requests or if you have a special moment that you would like to share, I’d love to hear from you.
