About Mike Jones

I joined the pioneering community cable station Radio Basildon in 1979 after spells with Orsett and Basildon Hospital Radio. I mover swiftly on to regular shows on Breeze AM and Essex Radio throughout the 90s and I had further spells at Link FM and Time 107.5 FM before joining Phoenix in August 2010. Since February 2013 I've presented Friday's One 2 Three covering every political, art and sport topic going. I'm currently the stadium announcer at Dagenham and Redbridge FC and work for Aston Martin/Jaguar in Brentwood. I'm also a professional voiceover artist and secretary of Thurrock Courts Players where I have won national awards for Directing and Acting. When not doing any of the above I can be found on the golf course or with my granddaughter Ivy.

Promoting Young Talent

We are proud of the fact that we are constantly trying to further the career of young raw local talent and today was no exception. 15 year old Anna Marie Childs hails from Grays and has been singing since she was 11. She visited the studio today with Mike and played 3 songs of her own material

Mike was delighted to welcome three lovely ladies into the studio from Ad Hoc the local theatre group. One didnt say much as she was only 2 and half years old. Ad Hoc were in to talk about their latest piece which is Neil Simons the Odd Couple which runs from Thurs 26 May at the Brentwood theatre
