We were delighted to get a bit of interview time with Mark Gardener, singer and guitarist with Ride.

Even though the band were on site late due to a delayed flight, and were on stage in about an hour and half, Mark and his management made me feel like they had all the time in the world. And I seriously had to fight myself from falling asleep on the bus – it was so comfortable!

After four albums – including two which reached the top 5 in the UK – Ride called it a day in 1996, with the band members moving to other musical projects – Mark formed the Animalhouse and performed with Goldrush, and guitarist Andy Bell forming Hurricane No 1 and then joining Oasis as bassist for their final three albums.

The band reformed in 2015 and after a few packed gigs released a fifth album, Weather Diaries, last month. The album has continued their earlier success, peaking at no 11 in the charts. And needless to say their performance at Latitude was in line with high expectations!
