Top 3 worst WWE Finishing Moves

Last week, I treated you to the top 3 best WWE finishing moves… Missed it? Okay, you can view it here:

Top 3 WWE Finishing Moves

This week, it is only natural then that I present to you the top 3 worst WWE finishing moves.

3. The Legdrop

Now this is The Hulksters finishing move. At one time golden boy of the WWE with a legion of devoted fans around the globe. He would beat EVERYONE. And how?… with a leg drop. Yes… a leg drop.

Now I’m not saying that a 300lb man dropping his leg on you isn’t going to hurt, but c’mon it’s a leg drop! That’s not a finishing move! And bare in mind that at one time Hulk Hogan was the biggest star in the World. Even Scott Garland’s signature move had more thought put into it than that. Which brings us to…

2. The Worm

My younger readers may not know this, but there was a time in WWE called ‘The Attitude Era.’ A golden age of top story lines and wrestling that for many years couldn’t be beaten (only in recent years has WWE returned to form.) It wasn’t all good though. Enter tag team ‘Too Cool’ made up of Scotty 2 Hotty and Grand Master Sexay (yes I have spelled that correctly).

And what was Scotty 2 Hottys finisher? The Worm. A move that is literally that wiggly break dance worm move across the canvas followed by a small chop to the body. That’s it. Yes it may have looked fun, but it could never be taken seriously as legitimate finishing move. I have mixed feelings about this one.

Before we get to number 1, a couple of notable exceptions (coincidentally peaking in The Attitude Era), Rikishi’s ‘Stink Face’ (the less said about this the better), The Big Show’s ‘KO Punch’ (only not on the list because the size of the man convinces you one munch may be enough) and The Rock’s ‘People’s Elbow’ (omitted because although it is a ridiculously terrible move, it usually followed a ‘Rock Bottom’ which was legitimately a decent take down.)

  1. The Superman Punch

Ahhh Roman Reigns… has ever a wrestler been more divisive? To be honest I think Reigns gets far too much heat. He is a decent wrestler, yes he is more than a little bit bland on the mic, but gosh darn it he gives it everything every time. And whatever the reason he is being pushed big time.

So should WWE’s current favourite have such an awful finisher?… No. It is just rubbish. It’s a punch. That’s it. You think of all the greats and the phenomenal moves they are associated with and none of them have ever relied so heavily on such an inferior move. I’ll give it him it is unique, but IMO just doesn’t cut it for a big star.
