Reflections on the Dulwich game

Billericay Dulwich

It’s never dull supporting BTFC, last Saturday they had a tremendous victory at Dulwich winning 3-0, but last night we were outplayed by Dulwich in the return fixture losing 2-0. Although it’s still possible to end the season in the playoffs it is now going to be very difficult, there are only 5 games remaining.

Next match is home on Saturday 1st April v Leiston another one of the playoff contenders, they also have games in hand. It looks as though Bognor & Havant have either booked automatic promotion or a playoff spot, Dulwich + Leiston are likely to finish in the playoffs as they have games in hand. There remains one place to fight for between, Needham, Tonbridge, Enfield & Wingate, we still have to play Enfield as well as Needham which is our last game of the season. It’s still going to be an interesting and exciting end of season.

Even if we don’t make it this season, it should be remembered Glenn’s promise/ambition was promotion in 18months, the season 2017/18 was targeted. So much has happened since December, there will be setbacks while the team develops and establishes itself.

The team are receiving considerable publicity and support, on Saturday 2,805 were in attendance at Dulwich, last night Billericay had their biggest attendance since 2011 when they played Chelmsford, 1,302. It is hoped that there will be a good crowd in attendance on Saturday when we play Leiston, the atmosphere in the ground has been great for the last few home matches, it’s anticipated the team will come out fighting on Saturday and put last nights poor game behind them.

New floodlights have arrived as promised, it won’t be long before we are using them. Changes continue on a weekly basis, Glenn is definitely investing in the club, it would be good to see he continues to receive the local support his efforts deserve.
