Friday Night Extra 3.3.15 with guest Helen Rendell.

Helen retired just under a year ago and moved from living in Chelmsford to a new life on the Greek island of Rhodes. She talked of the love of her life in a small village. Here everyone spoke English, as all the school children learn English from age seven years. The village also contained some other Brits and people from Germany, Russia and other countries. Everyone mixed together and there is a very good community spirit. Many people gather at the two local cafes late into the night. She has involved herself with working for a British charity that cares for stray cats, of which there are many on the island. More info can be found on Facebook under Rhodes Gcws. She told us about the importance of the Orthodox church in the everyday lives of people. Before the beginning of Lent there was a giant BBQ day, called Smoking Day, where people ate meat for the last time until Easter. She is back in the UK to see her family. This includes her son Ed Rendell who is in the British Super Bike semis. He can also be found on Facebook. He is seeking crowd funding and info for this can be found on www.crowdfunder.co.uk/edwardrendell-bes-2017 Helen also chose thee tracks which she said summed up her life.
