Fiction Refresh Launch & Review

I have been to Fiction in Romford a number of times in the past, but I was extra excited for this visit for two reasons; the club had been newly refurbished and Tom Zanetti would be in the building!

When I arrived, outside the club there was a humongous queue full of people with prepaid tickets and those who were hoping to get a ticket on the door.  Fortunately for me and my plus one we were able to skip the queue and were met at the door by Fran, the VIP and Sales manager. She took us to the exclusive VIP Lounge, took our jackets and got us a drink. The VIP Lounge is a nice little area to be in if you want to get away from the business of the club and have a chat as the music is quieter. In the Lounge are three booth areas to hire out, two smaller tables and a private bar just for those with a VIP wristband.

We sat and enjoyed our drinks while we waited for Tom Zanetti to arrive as he was helping Fiction celebrate their refresh with a live performance alongside K.O Kane. I was also privileged enough to be interviewing him for Phoenix FM and you can listen back to that here: https://www.phoenixfm.com/2017/02/26/tom-zanetti-interview/

Fran return to find us once Tom was backstage and we went to meet him and Casey, Fiction’s Deputy Manager, briefly before his set started. We then took our position at the top balcony where you get an all round view of the spacious dance floor and its surrounding areas. With more VIP booths dotted about there were two either side of the stage and whoever had assumed these tables must have been very happy to be so close to Tom!
Tom & Crowd

After the performance we resumed backstage where the interview took place. After which we took to the dance floor to enjoy the sound of Empire Sounds who was supporting Tom. Fiction has 2 floors with 4 bars and also an entrance into an adjoining club, Cameo which plays Old Skool music. Whatever room we were in I was loving the music as Ash Lowe played a mix of genres in Cameo while DJ Kicker and Craig B was spinning some more current tracks.

The night as a whole was great, all the staff were very nice and helpful, particularly Fran, Casey and DJ Kicker who were lovely people! I am sure I’ll be returning to Fiction, especially as they are often hosts to guest DJ’s and performers, in the past they have had the likes of Marvin Humes and Tough Love behind the decks. These nights are often featured on The Phoenix FM Club Guide.
