My first trip to CTZN was two years ago and I was blown away by their cocktails. Ever since then I’ve wanted to go back but as I don’t get a chance to go to Chelmsford often, it took me a while to revisit. But my 25th birthday was the perfect opportunity to return to the venue which had stuck in my mind.
Arriving at CTZN on Saturday night with balloons tied around my wrist I was met at the door by Nathan, the manager, who warmly welcomed me and my friends. Our names were ticked off the guest list; we were given golden wristbands and taken straight in with no queuing. The golden wristband allowed us into a VIP booth which I had arranged beforehand and included a HUGE bottle of drink and waitress service.
Another added extra to the night was we got to share the booth with Love Island’s Thomas Powell! He and his friends were already there but made room for us when we arrived. They were all so lovely, wishing me Happy Birthday as did some other clubbers on the dance floor, which was filled with people. It didn’t surprise me as the music was so good! With a mix of current tunes and throwback tracks, DJ Tom Short kept us dancing all night.

For those who wanted a bit of air, there is a spacious smoking area with seating upstairs on a balcony overlooking the River Chelmer. CTZN’s decor itself is very modern and classy, with a neon lit ceiling, 7 VIP areas and a sizeable bar.

CTZN is a very popular choice for a night out in Chelmsford proven by the amount of people who were in the venue. There were no dramas or issues throughout the night and I felt safe, comfortable and happy to be there.
I had been very excited about celebrating my birthday in CTZN and it didn’t disappoint! I can quite happily say my 25th was possibly the best birthday I’ve ever had! I definitely endeavour to go to CTZN again and would totally recommend it for any occasion, a night out or drinks during the day!
