Friday Night Extra 23.12.16 So near to Christmas.

Tonight’s show was a chilled mix for that time leading up to Christmas. With Christmas Eve next day, and everything associated with that, all we wanted to do was relax. I let the music do the talking. It was almost exclusively Christmas themed, yet much of it would have been unfamiliar. It is a shame when it is the same tracks very year that sell, when there is so much variety there, as well as new tracks. In the second hour we decorated a virtual Christmas tree.

Tonight’s playlist
Booker T & MGs – Crazy
Michael Buble – Baby please come home
Jennifer Nettles – Merry Christmas with love
Dolly Parton – Smokey mountain Christmas
Michael W Smith featuring Carrie Underwood – All is well
Pat Boone – Jingle bells (rocking version) – this 1957 track was requested by Phyl
Frank Sinatra – Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Michelle Legrande orchestra & Jamie Cullum – Let it snow
Annie Lennox – In the bleak midwinter – for Alison listening in Lincoln
Beatles – Eleanor Rigby – requested by Michael
London Hospices Choir – Living years – sadly only no 81 in the Christmas chart
Peter Hollens – December song – for Holly who loves his music.
Piano Guys – Carol of the bells – loved by Lee, listening and working
Pentatonix – Carol of the bells
Shakatak – Christmas in Rio
CSI Toronto – Run to the manger
John Lennon and Pasic Ono Band – Happy Christmas, war is over – requested by Patrick
Louis Armstrong – Christmas in New Orleans
Katie Melua & Gori women’s choir – Little swallow – original words for the tune associated with carol of the bells
Brenda Lee – Rocking around the Christmas tree
Four Seasons – Silver star
Michael W Smith – Christmas angels
Coldplay – Christmas lights
Cliff Richard – Mistletoe and wine
Rhianna Giddens – Christ was born on Christmas morn
Twelve days of Australian Christmas. This ended with, ‘and an emu up a gum tree’ – listeners were intrigued!
Kenny Rogers – Kentucky home-made Christmas – for Sue, Leonard and all the family in Kentucky
Kacey Musgrave – Christmas makes me cry
Alvin Stardust – so near to Christmas
Enya – And winter came.

Join me and a studio full of guests on Boxing Day morning for three hours starting at 10.
I will be back next Friday evening…same time…same place.
