Friday Night Extra 16.12.16 Chilled Advent

We had a very chilled music mix tonight, with most of the tracks having a seasonal feel. On the news front, we listened to the Maori Party joint leaders singing a rendition of Santa Baby in the parliament. We also heard how in the first week of December vinyl sales made more than downloads. To quote the Entertainment Retailers Association, “This is further evidence of music fans to surprise us all. It’s not so long ago that the digital download was meant to be the future. Few would have predicted that the album format, first invented in 1948, would now be outselling in 2016”.

Tonight’s playlist
Booker T & MGs – Crazy
Emerson, Lake & Palmer – Footprints in the snow
Chris Rea – Driving home for Christmas – requested by David driving home from Sussex to Lincolnshire.
Beatles – Yesterday – With a little help from my friends – requested by Michael, request one, get one free.
Enya – Journey of the Angels – requested by Patrick
Seals & Crofts – Summer breeze – requested by Tom, who wanted an alternative to Christmas music.
New Zealand parliament – Santa baby
Michele Legrand Orchestra & Jamie Cullum – Let it snow
Shires – 1,000 hallelujahs
London Hospice Choir – Living years
Boney M – Mary’s boy child
CSI Church Toronto – Run to the manger – Phyl’s request
Cliff Richard – Saviour’s day
Mike Oldfield – In Dulci Jubilo
Pentatonix – That’s Christmas to me
Maddie Prior & the carnival band – God rest ye merry gentlemen
Greg Lake – I believe in Father Christmas – for Chris and Bob
Alison Kruass – Wexford Carol – from Bob Simpson’s playlist for Christmas day morning
Cee Lo Green – Mary did you know – for Rene, who turned it up loud at home. It was also loud in the studio.
Diana Krall – Christmas time is here
Shakatak – O little town of Bethlehem
Lady Antebellum – First Noel
Michael Buble – Baby please come home – from this years biggest selling Christmas themed album…again.
Annie Lennox – Universal child
Nat King Cole – Christmas song
Brenda lee – Rocking around the Christmas tree
Lee Anne Rimes – We need a little Christmas
Enya – And Winter came

Join me next Friday, for another chilled mix as Christmas gets nearer.
I would also love your company on Boxing Day morning. Scroll down all my pages to find the showblog, where you can leave a message about what Christmas means to you.
