Calvin Harris was the inspiration for tonight’s playlist. He uses his own vocals on recent release My Way, which is unusual for a music producer to do.
My Way isn’t the first song Calvin Harris has sung himself, but it was Pharrell Williams who encouraged Calvin to create another, giving him the advice that ‘it’s not about hitting the notes, it’s about getting the emotions and character across’.
This, along with the urge to stand out is what helped Calvin produce this new song. In his own words he has said “there’s a lot of DJ producers and I look at myself and I think, ‘What do I have to offer that they don’t?’ he added “What can I do that they can’t?’ Because… we all pretty much do the same thing.”
