Friday Night Extra Friday 30.9.16 with studio guest singer Denyse Donnell

denyse-donnellDenyse Donnell joined me in the studio tonight and we heard her singing Baby mine, Then he kissed me, and Lullaby of Birdland. She told us that her first love was dancing and acting. Whilst working in the holiday industry, she was encouraged to sing. This resulted in her being in an ABBA tribute band in Minorca. Her singing and acting career has continued and now she performs in a number of contexts. She loves singing jazz and is looking to put together a jazz trio. She is also singing in Carousel at the Ingatestone Community Club next week, She has written and will be producing and performing in at the Ingatestone Community Centre in January. She is also looking for acts for a Valentines charity evening she is putting together. All this and a young family. For more information check out www.denysedonnell.co.uk
Tonight we featured a number of songs on the theme of Autumn. We also looked at the musical legacy of John D. Loudermilk, who passed away on 21st of September. In news items we heard the advice that we should all put on sunglasses at home two hours before we go to bed. This encourages the body clock to think night is coming and to prepare for sleep. In Switzerland, a group of retirement homes have been organising “elderly Olympics” during the summer. Sounds a great idea.
Tonight’s playlist.

Shires – My Universe – title track from their new album. No. 1 next week?
