EFL League Two: Leyton Orient 0 Plymouth Argyle 2

A resilient 9-man Leyton Orient were beaten 2-0 at home to top of the table Plymouth Argyle, at The Matchroom Stadium.

Orient were reduced to 10-men in the opening minute, as Captain Robbie Weir was given a straight red for a late challenge.

The away side took the lead early on, as Jimmy Spencer slotted in for the visitors with Orient reduced to ten.

The evening then got even more difficult for the ‘O’s, as Jens Janse was sent off for a mistimed tackle on Jake Jervis as the last man.

Plymouth then grabbed their second late in the second half, as substitute Ryan Donaldson’s strike extended their unbeaten run to eight games.

Caretaker manager Andy Edwards first game in charge saw two changes to his side that were defeated 3-1 away at Notts County. Sandro Semedo and Jens Janse made his debut for the club ahead of Harry Cornick and Yvan Erichot who both moved to the bench.

Orient looked to overturn their back-to-back defeats against top of the table Plymouth who were on a seven game unbeaten run.

In the second half, substitute Atangana was also forced off injured and had to be replaced by Harry Cornick.  

Plymouth put the ball into the net for a second time but Goodwillie’s goal was disallowed for offside.

Cisak kept Orient in the match with some superb stops, to give the home fans some hope with time running out.

Although Plymouth secured the three points with six minutes to go, as substitute Donaldson slotted in from a cut back inside the box to put the nail in Orient’s coffin.
