Friday Night Extra 15.7.16 Planning your road trip.

Tonight, with no guests and Jonty away, it was just you, me and the music. We also thought about planning a road trip. Where would you go? Who would you take with you? Why would you take them?
This sparked lots of listener response. Bob Marley, around the Caribbean, because he was a spiritual man and he would know the best places to surf. Archbishop Justin Welby, around the U.K., because he has an impossible job and it would be good to hear his views. Geoff Hurst, Winston Churchill, Michael Pallin, Michael Portillo, Alexi Polizzi, Clint Eastwood and Lemmy. Then a trip to see Polar bears with Earl Carpenter, so he could sing all the songs from Phantom of the Opera over and over again. Then there was taking Rog Hodgson for a trip around Wales and asking why he got the tactics so wrong. David Cameron, Rory Mcllroy, Angela Merkel, Adele, Julia Bradbury around the Midlands with her maps, Rick Stein around East Anglia to teach cooking at different restaurants and Dimitri Payet. I was asked my trip, which would be Route 66 in USA with Abraham Lincoln. This went down well with David, listening live tonight in Washington DC, where the show was 3 – 5 p.m.

Tonight’s playlist
Miles Davis – Summertime
Shires – Made in England
Sting – Englishman in New York – for David listening in Washington, having flown yesterday from New York.
Beatles – With a little help from my friends – from Michael for all his friends.
Petre Andre – Fly me to the moon
Cliff Richard – Summer holiday – requested by Phyl
Lobo – Me and you and a dog named boo – requested by Patrick
Bob Marley – Sun is shinning – requested by Rene to go with her road trip
Peggy Lee – He’s a tramp – requested by Derek
Douwe Bob – Slow down
Bill Withers – lovely day – for Leigh, Chris and all teachers nearing the end of the term.
Bob Dylan -The night we called it a day – commented by lee that this sounded like Leonard Cohen
Quincy Jones – Soul Bossanova
Elton John – Can you feel the love tonight
Adele – Skyfall – to sing for Lee and Roy Hodgson on their road trip to Wales.
Clannad – Robin the hooded man
Queen – Somebody to love
Stevie Wonder – Another star
Phil Collins – Another day in paradise
Gregory Porter – Wind song – for Pauline, Stephen from Billericay’s mum, whose birthday it is today.
Carie Underwood – What I never knew I always wanted.
Jack Savoretti – Broken glass
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young – Teach your children
Black – Wonderful life
Nelson Riddle – Route 66 – as I drive off with Abraham Lincoln…
