My Euro 2016 story: Day 10 – Our walkabout in Dijon

As our last group game was tomorrow we took a day to wander in the quaint town of Dijon.

Although waking refreshed from no booze, I didn’t not have the best night sleep. However, I did wake up at 8am to go to the hotel gym. It was a bit of a disaster, not going to lie. My health has deteriorated from our travels, and when I tried to run – lets just say it was very difficult.

We got a tram into town to get some breakfast. We stopped off at a shop which specialises in milkshake and muffins (to further my point of my current unhealthy lifestyle), they were delicious and thoroughly enjoyable.

There was a iPad on each of the tables of this restaurant, for some reason or another Trigg thought it would be funny to put “Coatesy” into urban dictionary (dictionary for definition for slang words), and it strangely come back with this…

“Noun. A person who genuinely serves no positive purpose to society. See also d***h***.”

For PG censorship, this has been edited. He got bullied for that all day.

After our nutritious breakfast we went for a mooch around town after taking the short tram ride to the centre. To be honest, despite Dijon being a nice little town, there wasn’t much to see. In fact we were pretty much done by 3pm in the afternoon.

On the plus side we found a lovely Turkish restaurant and we ate handsomely there. We saw some lovely churches, there was a wonderful market where Trigg and I bought some gifts. We even spent a nice little while in the park .

We even found time to have a flag picture by a lovely fountain.

The weirdest thing of the day was seeing Coatesy knock a local man off his bike.

Now some would say he punched the man, some would say he pushed him, some even would say that he attacked the man with a roundhouse kick, depends on what version of the story you believe. As we entered a palace/castle-like building through an archway, Nick and I were queueing for a toilet when all of a sudden we heard a collision, and as we turned we saw Coatesy helping up a poor cyclist from the floor.

Coatesy to this day claims his innocence. It is plain to see he wasn’t having a great day.

Dijon ground

Before we headed back to the hotel we took a quick trip to the Dijon football ground. It is in closed season so we wasn’t allowed in but we did see one side of the ground having refurbishments of a new stand. We took a few snaps then headed back to the hotel for dinner. Oh and we saw someone up high in the tree urinating on the stadium, but that’s a story for another time.
