Celebrating the Queen’s 90th Birthday

With The Queen’s Official birthday celebrations taking place this weekend tonight’s show was royal related! From tracks that the Royal Family themselves like to Kings, Queens and Princess’ of the music world and also songs that have relevant titles.

90 balloons 2

So who does the Royal Family like to listen to when it comes to modern music? Warning – the answers may be surprising!

queen and garlow barlow
Starting off with one of the Queen’s favourite artist, Gary Barlow – who she may have a soft spot for due to the song he co produced with Andrew Lloyd Webber called Sing, back in 2012 for her Diamond Jubilee.

prince william
In 2014 her Prince William was visiting a school in East Yorkshire and revealed he really likes Coldplay and Linkin Park when a student asked what music he likes.

body rockersBodyrockers’ hit I like The Way You Move is a track very close to Will’s heart as it brought him and Kate back together after their brief break up in 2007.  The song came on at a party the Princes’ were hosting and as it was Will and Kate’s favourite song at the time they both hit the dance floor and the rest is history!

will and kateEllie Goulding played at the wedding reception of Will and Kate. She performed her version of Your Song as the couple’s first dance. She also stayed for the whole night and said “it’s something I’ll treasure forever.”

kayne and prince harry
And something Prince Harry might treasure forever is meeting Kayne West and watching him perform in 2007! At the same party as the Body Rockers played, Prince Harry invited Kayne to perform too.

beyonce sing to eugeniePrince William has admitted in the past that he enjoyed Bieber’s 2011 hit Never Say Never. And while it’s shocking to think he may be a Belieber, it’s even more shocking to imagine Princess Eugenie shaking her royal booty to Queen B herself, Beyonce! But back in 2013 she made sure she was front row at O2 arena during Beyonce’s concert who even sang to her!
